Deluxe Chess Sets is proud to offer the Reykjavik II Series Chess set. A full tournament-sized Chess set, it features a 3.75" King with a 1.75"diameter base. The Chess pieces are hand carved by our master artisans and crafted out of the highest grade woods. The Chess pieces are heavily weighted with luxurious billiard cloth base pads and a beautiful finish. The design of the Reykjavik II Chess set is an exact reproduction of the Chess set used by the legendary American Grandmaster Bobby Fischer when he won the 1972 World Chess Championship against the reigning World Champion Grandmaster Boris Spassky in Reykjavik, Iceland. The Chess set has been designed to withstand years of use (and abuse), as it lacks many of the ornate details commonly found on Chess Sets that can be susceptible to damage in the heat of battle. For example, the Chess set features reinforced Pawn collars and oversized Rook ramparts for unmatched durability. The Reykjavik II Series Chess set is ideal for those that are interested in both the historical importance of the game of Chess, as well as those looking for an attractive Chess set that is both economical and durable.

As with all of our Chess sets, the Reykjavik II Series Chessmen exemplifies a perfect combination of distinct beauty and functionality. It has been designed to withstand the rigors of practical play while maintaining an elegance which has become the hallmark of a Staunton chess set. The design, quality and craftsmanship of this set is UNMATCHED by any set of Chessmen in its price range. Nothing even comes close!

The Reykjavik II Series Chess Set - 3.75 inch King is available in the following woods:

Natural Boxwood and Golden Rosewood
WOOD DESCRIPTION: Golden Rosewood is the ideal choice for those looking for a Wooden Chess set that is durable yet affordable, one that will provide many years of use at a price that anyone can afford. Golden Rosewood is characterized by its attractive yet unique color, which can be best described as orangish-brown with aggressive grain patterns.

Ebonized Boxwood
WOOD DESCRIPTION: Also known as faux Ebony, Ebonized Boxwood is created when Boxwood is treated with a specialized stain to create the look of Ebony. When done properly, it can be difficult to distinguish between an ebonized and ebony piece when brand new. It is perfect for those who want the classical look of a Genuine Ebony Chess set at an affordable price.

(OUT-OF-STOCK) Natural Boxwood and Rosewood
WOOD DESCRIPTION: With its dark brown color and aggressive grain patterns, Rosewood is the perfect choice for those that truly appreciate the natural beauty of wood. While most Chess sets are made from woods that have uniform coloring and minimal grain, Rosewood stands in stark contrast with its striking color variations and aggressive grain.

Rosewood and Natural Lacquered
WOOD DESCRIPTION: To truly accentuate the beauty of Boxwood and Rosewood, a high-gloss lacquer finish has been applied that brings the natural, rich colors and aggresive grain patterns of these fine woods to life. Our master craftsmen handselect each piece of Boxwood and Rosewood used to insure maximum visual impact. If you are interested in the natural beauty of Wood but would like something a bit different than the norm, Rosewood and Natural Lacquered is the ideal selection for you.

(OUT-OF-STOCK) Natural Boxwood and Genuine Ebony
WOOD DESCRIPTION: The most famous of the ornamental woods, Genuine Ebony is a luxurious hardwood that is a prized for its jet black color, very fine grain and overall beauty. Genuine Ebony is considered to be the quintessential Chess set by Chess collectors that appreciate the purity of the White army versus the Black army on the 64-square battlefield.

Natural Boxwood and Blood Rosewood
WOOD DESCRIPTION: 'Beautiful', 'Exotic' and 'Striking' are just a few of the adjectives that Chess collectors use to describe Blood Rosewood. The rarest and most expensive of the hardwoods, it is characterized by its striking dark red color and subtle grain patterns. Its color is often compared to that of red wine and it is truly our most luxurious wood.
